Client: Magnox, Bradwell B reactor, UK

Scope of work: To evaluate ECR for removal of radio-nuclides from ‘pond’ water (700 m3) for plant decommissioning.

Solution: An ECR unit was floated on the surface of the ‘pond’. Radio-active water was pumped through the unit for a fixed period of time, then the pond allowed to settle.

Comments: The photo shows untreated pond water top right and treated water bottom left. Part of the ECR unit is visible bottom right. Following treatment all 700m3 of pond water was further filtered and released to coastal water.
